Sport Sheffield has adopted The Burton Street Foundation as its chosen charity for 2012.
The Burton Street Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation serving the community. Their home is a complex of Victorian school buildings in the Hillsborough district of Sheffield.
The Foundation specialise in supporting adults and older children with learning and physical difficulties, something for which Burton Street now has a national reputation.
The money raised by the partnership will provide the charity with the means to achieve some of its longer term goals much quicker, and will create a wider range of services for clients/users.
Sport Sheffield will be fundraising through a year-long, fun filled series of events, which you can all get involved in! More information will be available soon, however if you have any ideas about how we could help support the Burton Street Foundation, please fill out the e-comments box below.
"Sport Sheffield has entered in to an exciting and unique partnership with local charity Burton Street Project that supports adults with learning disabilities. As part of their Adopt A Charity scheme, working in collaboration with Sheffield RAG, the charity will benefit from the University's first class facilities and fund raising efforts by Sport Sheffield staff and customers. This Sport Sheffield project demonstrates how the University can get involved with the local community and a genuine commitment to local giving."
Thanks to Emma Damian-Grint, RAG Community Fundraising Co-ordinator, Sheffield Students’ Union for her support.
