Fitness and Wellbeing

Welcome to Sport Sheffield’s fitness and wellbeing pages!

Here at Sport Sheffield we aim to support a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle by focusing on the ‘whole person’ both physical & psychological.

Increasingly studies are showing that being fit and healthy can have a positive impact on study and we hope to provide opportunities for students to make the most of this.

S10health – the University’s fitness centre – is a great place to start developing a more active, healthier you! Once you have got started in the gym we can offer re-assessments to help keep you on track while members of our gym team are always on hand to give you advice on the run.

With over 170 pieces of equipment ranging from cardio machines, fixed strength and free weights we have something for almost everyone!

If the gym isn’t quite your things then group fitness is a great way to get involved in exercise amongst likeminded individuals. All classes are suitable for beginners and can be an excellent way to improve your levels of fitness. If you're a total beginner, recovering from injury or not exercised for some time, or just fancy a change from your old routine then our group fitness programme has something for you.

And don’t forget the swimming pool! Like group fitness swimming can offer you a great alternative to the gym in terms of keeping your exercise levels high as well. The sauna and steam rooms are a great way to relax and unwind, too!

But we also want to help you have a healthy and happy time here in Sheffield and we also offer a number of workshops covering a range of topics from injury prevention to healthy eating.

We also support Biteback (the service that supports University students affected by eating disorders) which is run by SYEDA (South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association) and promote other health awareness initiatives such as chlamydia screening, alcohol awareness and smoking cessation.

Here at Sport Sheffield we want to help you so please feel free to contact us if you have any comments or suggestions.

Healthy regards
