Welcome to The University Of Sheffield Athletics and Cross Country Club

The University of Sheffield Athletics and Cross Country Club was Sport Sheffield Club of the year 2017-2018 as well as the top performing Northern University Athletics Club

Welcome to the University of Sheffield Athletics and Cross-Country Club. Whether you’re an elite athlete, experienced or a total beginner, you’ll find your place here. We offer a wide range of disciplines from sprints to long distance/XC as well as field events and multi-events.

We are a friendly, social and inclusive club that aims to give members the opportunity to train and compete at a level they want to. We compete in BUCS and local competitions but also have Social Sprints and Group Runs for those who want to train at a lower intensity or not looking to compete.

Our 100-800m runners and hurdlers are coached by Head of Athletics and two-time Coach of the Year, Martin Cook. This group train three times a week with additional gym sessions. For those wanting to train with less intensity and not compete, Social Sprints are led each week by our own athletes. Our distance athletes are coached by Mick and Dave, who have over 25 years of experience. Also, Group Runs are a good way to socialise with other members of the club. For field and multi-eventers, we have strong links with coaches with the local community clubs and we will do our best to facilitate coaching for you upon request.

We aim to deliver a club that overcomes current challenges faced in the current climate and give students a place to stay active, succeed in their personal goals, and keep up positive mental and physical health throughout the year. Our performance aims for the year center around our athletes and their personal goals. We believe that by encouraging each athlete to succeed, we create an environment of positive success. That being said, the club does of course have several targets which include to retain a top 10 BUCS ranking as well as retaining our Varsity and Steel Cup titles.
