Sheffield University Equestrian Club (SUEC)

Welcome to The University Of Sheffield Equestrian Club

Sheffield University Equestrian Club (SUEC) is an established sports club with 2 teams that represent us in BUCS, as well as a 2 thriving development teams offering both our less experienced members the opportunity to train and compete against other universities, with the aim of progressing onto a BUCS team in the future. The vast majority of our members join as Leisure members, benefiting from regular lessons, fun comps, trips, socials, volunteering and fundraising and other opportunities. We also provide beginner membership for those who want to learn to ride!

Welcome to SUEC! We are a thriving club at the university with a range of members. We are a Sports Performance Club and have 2 successful BUCS teams, who train and compete throughout the year, with the year ending in a bang when we hope to beat Hallam for the 5th year in a row at Varsity! Last year both A and B team qualified for the BUCS Regional rounds coming a respectable third. We also have two busy Development squads; this is for members who may have just missed out on BUCS teams and want to experience competing in a more relaxed environment, in order to improve and hopefully move into a BUCS team in the future. Being a sports performance club means all our teams benefit from dietary advice, strength and conditioning training and sports psychological advice to boost performance.

The majority of our club is made up of Leisure Members, who have regular lessons at a few different riding stables. We also have Beginner Members who have come across horses for the first time when joining the club. Whether you are a complete beginner or compete nationally with your own horse, we have something for you! And in case you're wondering, no, you don't need your own horse!

We hold weekly socials, one of the most popular is a night out at the legendary ROAR! but if night outs aren't your thing, we regularly meet up for food, hold quizzes and this coming year we are going to have club trips to horse shows. We are a fun, active and friendly club and if you are looking for friends for life, we are the club for you!

The easiest and best way to join the club is to come and see us in Intro Week at the Sports Fair and sign up! This is the best way to join as you can meet some of the Committee in person and ask any burning questions you might have. Keep an eye on our Facebook page nearer the time to find out exactly where our stall will be. If you miss the Sports Fair, however, you are welcome to join online via the Sport Sheffield website: 1. Log in to your MUSE account. 2. In a new tab, open the Sport Sheffield website (click HERE). 3. Click on 'Club Sports' below the memberships heading. 4. Scroll until you reach 'Equestrian Club'. 5. Click equestrian and select the appropriate membership. 6. You will then be to a payment and confirmation page.
