Welcome to The University Of Sheffield Gymnastics Club

Welcome to The University of Sheffield Gymnastics Club! We focus on artistic gymnastics for beginners and elites alike. The club provides weekly structured sessions, fun socials and competition opportunities for all. We have a great community of gymnasts and always love to welcome to new members.

The University of Sheffield Gymnastics Club was created in 2017, and is in its fourth year of running. The club is open to all, from complete beginners to experienced gymnasts with coaches who are extremely helpful. Our focus is artistic gymnastics however, sessions have lots of free roam time for those who want to try other things. Both female and male training is covered. The club provides structured training sessions which run twice a week at Dronfield Gymnastics Academy, and High Green Gymnastics Academy. In addition, we plan carshares to other adult gymnastics sessions for those who want to train more. Athletes can be entered into the BUCS Championships where they can compete in separate ability levels, making it available to all. There is also the hugely popular University Gymnastics Cup which is a league championship in which Universities compete in multiple competitions across the year in different venues across the UK and points scored in competitions increases the University’s place in the league. The club also run socials every 2 weeks along side other sports teams as well as sober socials every month. We hope to provide other training opportunities at different clubs around the country this year. UoS Gymnastics Club is a social club as well as competitive, that welcomes anyone who wishes to give gymnastics a go to come along!

Visit the sports Sheffield website to sign up to membership or send a message on any of our social media pages (Facebook is preferable) to quickly get into contact with one of our members if you have any questions. We post all of the information about our sessions on our Facebook pages

1) We want to expose as many people as we can to this amazing sport. We want to breakdown the common view that gymnastics is a niche sport, therefore we aim to reach out to complete beginners as well as those with gymnastics experience. 2) We would like to share the thrilling experience of competing for the University to people who have never done it before and to build a successful competition team. 3) We all love helping our members to improve their fitness and their ability and would like to see as many people doing awesome skills as we can. 4) We aim to provide other training opportunities with other gymnastics clubs across the UK including the UGC League as well as excursions and training days at other gyms. 5) We want to showcase the pinnacle of the sport by organising affordable club trips to Gymnastics events such as the British and World Championships. 6) We also provide coaching opportunities to those who are interested in helping others and gaining a qualification.

Details

The club provides structured training sessions which run twice a week, one at Dronfield Gymnastics Academy and the other at High Green Gymnastics Academy. We also plan to run coordinated carshares to other adult gymnastics sessions. The sessions provide support to beginners who may have no experience in the sport before and also allows more confident gymnasts the freedom to choose what they want to learn. The are located in purpose-built gymnastics halls where athletes can practice their skills on a variety of apparatus including a full sized sprung floor, fast track, foam pit, uneven bars, beams and trampolines.
