Welcome to The University Of Sheffield Jiu Jitsu Club
Our club practises Jiu Jitsu, a traditional Japanese martial art which uses throws, locks and strikes as self-defence against one or more attackers.
We defend against a variety of attacks including punches, body grabs, and weapons. In our club, you can learn to defend yourself in a safe and controlled environment under the supervision of certified instructors. Jiu Jitsu is also a great way to get fit, meet new people, and increase your self-confidence. For the competitive souls, there are two competitions a year, and we regularly train with other clubs from the rest of the Yorkshire region and the UK.
All levels are welcome, including people who have no previous experience with martial arts or don't think they're very fit. First session is for free and we usually socialise in the pub after training!
We are not currently running normal in-person sessions due to Covid. We will update here and on social media when we can train again.
We will continue to run online socials and Zoom sessions, and get back to training as soon as possible once it is safe to do so.
