Welcome to The University Of Sheffield Men's Football Club
Sheffield University Men's Football Club
Sheffield University Men’s Football Club (SUMFC) is amongst the largest sporting clubs at the University of Sheffield. SUMFC has 90 members across five teams, four of which compete against other universities in BUCS (British University and College) leagues. Our 5th team - a new addition in the 2016-2017 season - compete at intra-mural level against other teams within the University of Sheffield.
We have strong links with Sport Sheffield and our coaches are from one of the oldest football clubs in the world, Hallam FC. Our training sessions are run at Goodwin Sports Centre – on the Sheffield University Campus - and organised by Sport Sheffield. These relationships in the past have given the SUMFC 1st team the opportunity to play at Hillsborough in our annual Varsity event. As a club, we are constantly looking to progress both on and off the pitch.
As well as our efforts on the pitch, we take great pride in the work we complete off the pitch. This includes our charity work participating in events like the Sheffield Half Marathon, Sheffield RAG SpiderWalk, and 6-aside tournaments raising money for a plethora of charities such as Sheffield Children's Hospital, ASSERT, and the Alzheimer's Society.
Come to the Sports Fair on Friday 27th September, any time between 11am and 3.30pm in the Octagon Centre to sign up for club trials which will take place that weekend (28th - 29th September). Flyers with all the necessary details will be handed out across campus throughout Freshers’ Week
The aims for the year ahead are to get as many teams promoted as possible, obtain cup success with one of our teams, and to get a clean sweep in the Varsity matches against Sheffield Hallam. We also aspire to be voted as ‘Club of the Year’ at Sheffield University’s annual Sports Awards.
Training takes place on the 3G pitches at the Goodwin Sports Centre
