Welcome to The University Of Sheffield Orienteering and Fell Running Club
At Sheffield University’s Orienteering and Fell Running Club, we offer the opportunity to learn how to navigate like a pro and tackle mountains with speed! The unique combination of these two disciplines allows our club members to experience running and the outdoors in a more adventurous and challenging way!
We are ShUOC. One of the UK's leading universities for orienteering and fell running! We are proud to say that we have finished in the top two at BUCS Orienteering every year for more than a decade! No only this but many of our current members and alumni have represented Great Britain for orienteering at either a senior or junior international level.
There’s something for everyone at ShUOC. Our club houses a range of abilities from first time fell runners to mountain marathoners! So whether you’re a seasoned orienteer looking for a place to advance your skills or complete beginner in search of a friendly team to explore the Peak District with, then ShUOC is the team for you.

Circuits - Circuits consists of periods of effort, working the core muscles, followed by a short period of rest. We work our way around the body, combining floor work with weights. Intervals - Intervals consist of a short period of fast running, followed by a period of recovery. These sessions are aimed at improving speed and aerobic endurance. Social Runs - These sessions are a great way to bond as a team. The aim is to run at a comfortable pace with varying abilities to share the enjoyment of running. Hills - Much like intervals, hills consist of periods of hard work up the hill, followed by a period of recovery running down the hill. Hills are great for aerobic endurance and leg strength. Long Social Run/Orienteering/Local Events - On weekends we usually try and get members out and about entering local orienteering and fell running events however if nothing is on we’ll get a few cars together and do a long social run with maps!
