Windsurfing Club

Welcome to The University Of Sheffield Windsurfing Club

We are a relatively new club with great ambition to get people into windsurfing! With a huge range of kit to choose from, our club is full of friendly faces who love bringing new people into the sport! Give it a go, you will love it!

The Windsurfing Club started around 5 years ago and has grown massively with up to around 40 members at present. We have had significant funding from the Alumni Grant here at Sheffield and also from Sport England which has allowed us to quickly set up a successful club with large amounts of kit.

We run both Wednesday and Saturday sessions at a lake, just 40 mins away by car. Our members run the sessions and will show you the ropes in no time! You don't need to worry about a thing as all the kit will be provided for you; wetsuits and boots are available in loads of sizes as well as buoyancy aids, boards and sails. That’s right, you just need yourself and lots of enthusiasm!

We have made a name for ourselves with members winning 1st medals in the BUCS beginner division in 2019, and the club coming 2nd in team racing. We are hoping for continued success when BUCS returns next year! Don't worry though, we are a relaxed club who also love a good social and have been known to occupy half the Notty on a Wednesday after a session! We also go to Student Windsurfing Association events throughout the year (including BUCS) which are all over the country and involve good times, good company and good weather (sometimes!)

If you want to give it a go, become a pro windsurfer or simply find out more; all the links are below!

The club is super easy to join! All you need to do is add yourself to the University of Sheffield Windsurfing Forum, your request will be approved and then you’ll have access to all the information explaining how to attend session, socials and much more!

We want to get as many people interested in the sport as possible. It is great fun and we are used to complete beginners so don't worry! We would also love to carry on our success at BUCS and maybe win some more medals!
