Welcome to The University Of Sheffield Women's Rugby Union Club

Welcome to The University Of Sheffield Women's Rugby Union Club We are a growing club of around 60 current members with a big focus on fun. You don't have to be a star player to join, you don't even have to have picked up a rugby ball - everyone is welcome!

Sheffield University Ladies Rugby Football Club (SULRFC) is a club open to all - no matter your experience or fitness. We are passionate about developing those who are new to the game, into keen rugby players! Our 1st team play in the Northern 1A BUCS League, and our 2nd team in the Northern 4B BUCS League with BUCS matches played weekly on a Wednesday afternoon commencing in January. In April every year we compete in Sheffield Varsity, which is a fantastic event. We are going into our third year of our Second XV into BUCS! This is a fantastic opportunity for those who are new to rugby and keen, to experience some game time!

Not only do we play rugby, but we also have teams in the University's Campus Touch Rugby and Netball leagues for fitness and fun! We also run training sessions for girls at a local school and have plenty of other charity and volunteering events to get involved in throughout the year - a favourite being the Total Warrior UK Mud Run in the summer. This year we are supporting Sheffield MIND, a mental health charity.

Once government restrictions are lifted, every Wednesday evening we begin our legendary socials at 8pm on West Street. SULRFC have plenty of other social events too, including sober socials and club meals. Socials are a great way to get to know each other off the pitch so make sure you come along! In the meantime we will have some virtual events to introduce you to the club.

We are an all-inclusive club, welcoming women from all walks of life and abilities. Training takes place twice a week and two teams entered into the BUCS leagues, playing on Wednesday afternoons. There is a huge variety of social life within the club, with weekly nights out, joint socials and tour! In addition to this, the club offers a chance to play both netball and touch rugby, in the intramural programme!

Simply come along to any one of our training sessions! We are a club open to all, no matter what level of rugby you have. Join our Facebook group by searching SULRFC on Facebook for the latest updates on socials, games and training! If you have any questions drop Lydia Cronin (Club Captain) or Charlotte McGinley (Secretary) an email or message the club page.

To continue training at a high standard of rugby to continue being competitive in Northern 1A for 1st team, and develop the seconds team into a team of confident rugby players ready to play at a high standard in Northern 4B, and to keep up our strong fundraising programme for our chosen charity.
