How To Join/Get Involved

We are happy to take on new members to the club throughout the academic year. All you have to do is contact the secretary and we will organise a trip for you. At the beginning of the first and second semesters we run freshers events, but that doesn't mean you have to be a fresher, you can be an undergraduate or postgraduate student. The freshers trip is just a time for you to give it a go, see if you like it and if you do (great!), membership can be organised and there will be more sporting and adventurous trips taking place across the year. The club members can also be found in the Cobden View pub every Thursday evening from 8:30pm where you can meet most of us in a friendly environment.

Aims For The Year Ahead

As a club, we aim to get people from a wide range of backgrounds that can offer something different to the club; to integrate the university club with the wider caving community, such as helping out with their projects; to provide the members with skills; to pursue in our own digging projects; to arrange a caving trip abroad in the summer of 2017

Training Times

Training is incorporated with the caving trips themselves, which we do mid-week and at the weekend. These trips are often organised at the Cobden View pub on a Thursday at 8:30pm. There are also rope training sessions that will be taking throughout the year for members

Training Location

The caving takes place in the Peak District whereas the Single Rope Training (SRT) technique is done at a rope access centre near magna

Training Travel Details

We are fortunate to have a great deal of our members and leaders having cars, and so that is the primary form of transport used. Lifys will go from a location agreed on before

Club Achievements

caving is not a competitive sport, the club is well represented and its members regularly win national competitions such as those at Hidden Earth or CHECC. We enable people to go all around the world to participate in expeditions and have organised and carried out many successful expeditions

Events for the club take place across the year, starting with our own weekends away and holidays/expeditions abroad. Other events include Hidden Earth and CHECC. Email us if you want dates
