How To Join/Get Involved
To get involved simply come along on any of our walks! We advertise walks in our weekly email sent out every Tuesday (sign up via the box on our website on the left hand side), so all you need to do is turn up at the meeting point at the right time wearing suitable clothing and you're ready to go! Non-members have to pay £2 per walk, but for members its free - simply sign up online via Sport Sheffield, it's only £5 for the entire year! Being a member also allows you to come on our trips away throughout the year to places such as Snowdonia, Scotland and Northumberland. We also hold several "Give it a Go" events aimed specifically at beginners at various points in both semesters.
Aims For The Year Ahead
We want to get as many people as possible out to the countryside to show them just how fun and rewarding walking is, as well as show off some of the amazing scenery the Peak District has to offer, most of which is right on our doorstep! We aim to do this by offering walks for all abilities- from flat, scenic strolls though valleys to mountainous hikes. We also aim to expand on the social side of the club, by holding a range of special events such as barbecues, ceilidhs, cinema trips and meals, as well as continuing our regular social every Thursday at a different pub each week. We also raise money for charity by performing fundraising events such as our Manchester-Sheffield relay and Lord of the Rings charity walk.
We have walks every Saturday and Sunday covering a range of lengths and locations. We mainly visit the Peak District and walk between 7 and 13 miles, getting there on either the bus or the train. We also hold weekly social on Thursdays at 8:30pm in various pubs across the city. Further details of both of these can be found out on our website or by signing up to our weekly email.
For the majority of our walks, we walk in the Peak District, but occasionally we go on trips further afield to places such as Scotland, the Lake District, Snowdonia and Northumberland.

Training Travel Details
We use public transport to get to the majority of our walks. When travelling by bus we normally meet at the Sheffield Bus Interchange and when travelling by train we go from Sheffield Train Station. Prices of return tickets vary, but tend to cost around £5, with some events costing as little £2. More information again can be found by visiting our website or by signing up to our weekly email.
We are one of the largest sports clubs at the university due to our welcoming nature and the fact that walking is an inclusive sport that can be enjoyed by all. We also have raised a significant amount of money for our chosen charity, Edale Mountain Rescue, having fundraised over £1000 in the last two years alone.
See our website/sign up to our email for details of our walks/trips/charity events coming up throughout the year.
